Day One - Salisbury
Departing South Wales, we head to the South Coast, taking a lunchtime break at the cathedral city of Salisbury. Home of the tallest spire in the country, this medieval marvel is perfect for grabbing a bite to eat or taking a wander around its independent shopping arcades and high-street stores. If you prefer, you can take a picnic by the waterways or the beautiful green space of the cathedral.
From here it's on to Bournemouth and the Cumberland Hotel, which will be our base for your four night stay. The hotel is perfectly placed on the East Cliff overlooking the beaches and English Channel, and with it's own indoor pool and leisure facilities, the hotel is the perfect place to relax and unwind.
Day Two - Winchester
Winchester is like stepping back in time. Once the Capital of England, it still has a traditional charming feel but is full of fabulous places to shop, eat, and drink. The backdrop is stunning architecture, winding lanes, and the imposing cathedral.
Day Three - Dorchester & Weymouth
Today's excursion is a full day out as we start with an hour's drive through the Dorset countryside, to the market town of Dorchester. Dorset’s county town was the birthplace of famous author and poet Thomas Hardy and enjoys a rich history dating back to the Iron Age. Today, the town is known for its fabulous independent shops and restaurants along with the weekly market. Perfect to grab a bargain or two.
From here, we drop down into Weymouth. Famed for its golden sands, charming alleyways, and fabulous harbourside pubs and eateries, it's perfect for a spot of lunch before heading back to Bournemouth.
Day Four - Free in Bournemouth
It's a free day in Bournemouth. Enjoy the 7 miles of golden sands, stunning views over the English Channel and towards the Isle of Wight, the promenade and pier, and a vibrant town centre—just a few things that may tempt you away from the hotel and its surroundings.
Day Five
Time to make our way back to Wales, stopping off at the ever-popular Roman city of Bath. The Abbey, the Pump Rooms, meandering shopping arcades and plenty of high street shops are just a few reasons a stop here is so popular. Couple this with a vast range of places to grab a bite to eat; Bath is the ideal place to take a lunchtime break.
From here it's back over the Severn and in to Wales for an early evening return home.
